From Lab to Studio - Progress!

I ended up with a free afternoon today at school because almost all my afternoon class students went to an away volleyball game! Once I finished grading the Physics papers and making an answer key for Monday's Physics homework, I pulled out some projects I brought to school just for this purpose.

My lab tables make an excellent place to trace and cut out patterns:

I was able to trace and cut out all of BWOF #111 6/07. It is all ready for stitching on Monday.

I pushed two tables together and started putting the print out of pattern pieces together for the V & A dress:

In the picture below you can see the pieces being taped together. I was able to get the whole sheet for the bodice put together. Next Friday afternoon, maybe I'll have enough time to get the skirt pattern sheet together.

I also made a new necklace today on the way to and from school on the bus. This is a copy of one I saw in the window display at the bead shop where I buy a lot of my beads. It is a super simple lariat - just a string of beads with a crimp tube on either end and worn by passing the ends through a loop.

Parting Shot: Kiwi is starting to be more social. I have been able to pet her recently without her sprinting away.

I love the way you use every spare moment to follow your passion! No wonder you accomplish so much.

What great tables to be able to spread everything out! I am very interested in how and what you use to trace your patterns -- would you mind showing us that part too?

I really enjoy your blog and am very inspired by it. Also visited Manchester in July for the Knit & Crochet show and just fell in love with the area. I told my husband I want to retire there!

Glad you managed to get some unexpected sewing time, Summerset. I worked until 10 pm then collapsed on the bed...
I did get to prewash beautiful knits I received last week - so there HAS to be some sewing done this weekend :)

How exciting that you'll be doing the V&A dress!!
Your necklace is beautiful. And this is the Burda top you made in September isn't it!
Glad to see Kiwi is enjoying petting! She's so cute.

Have a lovely weekend Summerset - hope you get plenty of sewing done!

I'm also tracing patterns! Lovely necklace (that's something I have yet to try making: jewellery).

Kiwi is taking her time but showing progress! That's one thing I like about cats: you have to conquer them!

I've often wished I could do some sewing related activities during unexpected downtime at work/school. What a great way to "fit stuff in". The most I can do is photocopy instruction sheets from BWOF. Besides, I'd be so paranoid about someone catching me with all the paper spread out on the table!

What a great way of spending an unexpected afternoon of sewing time. Good to have so much space to work on for tracing.
Lovely the necklace too.

Okay, I am just downright peagreen with envy - jealous of the tables! Spending the time cutting out the pattern I would have expected but having the unlimited table space - priceless!
